“ Ya Gathiryagnasheelanam Aahithagnescha ya gathihi

In the Vishnu Purana the word “ Bhagavan” has 6 charactersitics as per Parasara. Those are a) Sarveshwar- the leader of allb) Dharmaathma—follower of virtues 3) keerthimaan—a celebrity d) Sriyapathi- The Lord of Sri 5) Viraktha- a detached person 6) Vaikuntapathi- the Lord of Vaikunta, giver of moksha.
We can see these 6 virtues in Lord Sri Rama. a) In Jatayu moksha we see that Rama can give moksha. Though Rama cries in separation from Seetha like an ordinary mortal, he gives liberation to Jatayu as He is the Supreme Lord.
Rama sees jatayu with his wings cut, lying on his death bed. He puts Jatayu on his lap and asks him “ Where is my beloved Seetha?” Jatayu with paternal affection says “ Aayushman! Your Seetha and my life have been taken away by Ravana in the muhurtham of Vinda. You will beget her back and attain all prosperity. He could not speak any further. Jatayu with his head on Rama’s lap attained the feet of Rama seeing Rama.
Sri Rama performed his final rites. He then said “ That Heaven which is attained by Nithyaagnihothris, that heaven which is attained by generous philanthrophers, that heaven which is attained by the courageous warriors at the battle field will be attained by you. Rama further wanted to give Jatayu Vaikunta. Hence he says “ One cannot get vaikunta by good merits alone. No shastra gives the rules for performing the funeral rites for a mere bird.. hence I give you moksha by my own mercy. It is my order. May you attain mukthi.
Jatayu attained kramamukthi staying at the lokas then and there. This shows Rama’s Sarveshwarathvam, His mokshapradathvam,His compassion, Jatayu’s devotion and affection.

There was a king called Pallavan who was ruling Thondaimandalam. He had kanchipuram as his capital city. He was devoted, generous, virtuous, truthful and famous. He came to the banks of the east coast ( Bay of Bengal). There he worshpipped Varaha swamy at Thiruvidandhai ( Kalyanapuram).. He resolved to do a kannikadaanam everyday. All the poor were very happy. They took their daughters to the king who married them off to suitable grroms. Thus all the brides in that place got married.. There was no more girl to be married off. Now whatr would happen to this king’s resolve? At this time a groom came along with his bride and other relatives to the king asking him for help. The king asked him thus “ Who are you? You look so beautiful? What is your name and which is your gothra? Where do you live and whose daughter is this girl?
The groom replied happily “ Oh King, My name is Nithyakalyana. I belong to this village and am of the Kashyapagothra.. I have learnt all the Vedas and Vedangas. This girl is Komalavalli and she belongs to the Bhargavagothra. Please marry us off and be bestowed with praise. The King also did as requested. He gave them enormous wealth. After the marriage he was unable to send them off. The bride and the grrom ntered the temple of Varaha swamy at the village. Having entered the sanctum sanctorium Nithyakalyana and Komalavalli disappeared. The King was stunned and had tears in his eyes. He worshipped the Lord. The Lord said “ Iam pleased by your resolve to marry off poor girls to suitable grooms. Do not worry that there are no more prospective brides. Conduct my kalyana uthsava everyday and beget prosperity. Thus the king began performing the Lord’s kalyanothsava everyday. Those who perform kalyanauthsava here will get married soon.

“ Karthaaramapi lokanaam shooram karunavedinam
Agyaanadavamanyeran Sarvabhuthani Lakshmana
Mrudum Lokahithe Yuktham Daantham karunavedinam
Nirveerya Ithi Manyanthe Nunam Maam Thridasheshwaraaha
Naashayami Jagathsarvam Thrailokyam Sacharacharam
Yavathdarshanamasyaa vai thapayami cha saayakaihi”
Srimad Ramayana has predominantly Karunya rasa ruling through it. Out of all the rasas Srungara rasa is the best. In this kavya too karunya rasa in ancillary to Sringaara rasa. Throughout the Aranya kanda Rama is in tears. His tears are for Seetha. Hence karunya rasa becomes ancillary to Sringara.
The Lord is full of compassion. He showers love. The Lord will not be able to bear the sorrow of His devotees.. The Lord cries for His devotees’ sorrow. The Lord then takes all efforts to solve His devotees’ problems. This is shown and proven in the Aranya kanda. Ravana abducts Seetha and Rama cries for Seetha. He searches for her throughout the forest. He questions the vanadevathas, nadidevathas,, the mountains. He questions even Surya, Vayu and other sakshath devathas reagarding Seetha. But the Devathas did not answer for fear of Ravana.. Now Rama gets angry. He now shines like Rudra during pralaya kaala. He roars at Lakshmana. “Though Iam the Lord of all Lords, the creator of all the worlds, Omnipotent and efficient Iam not respected because I have shown my prowess. They think Iam a futile warrior because Iam soft and gentle. If ordinary people think so it would be bearable. Even the devathas think so. This world exists for dharma and not for adharma.. Where there is no place for Dharma I would better destroy this world. Bring my Kodanda”, he yells at Lakshmana.
Immediately Lakshmana falls at Rama’s feet and surrenders, pacifying him.
