Sage Valmiki brings out the various aspects of Dharama in Ayodhya kandam through various conversations. Out of thses conversations Seetha Rama samvadham is exemplary. Sri Rama takes leave of kousalya and comes to seetha’s inner apartment. He has mixed feelings. “ Seetha must not think of Kaikeyi as a greedy woman. Nor must she think of Dasaratha as being subject to Kaikeyi’s control. She must not think of me as being deceived. She must know that Dasaratha and myself are being bound by the ropes of truth. As she is born of a high stature she must definitely understand the happenings, thus thinking Rama addresses her as “ Lady of high birth, knower of righteousness, Follower of dharama, Daughter of Janaka. Listen to me caraefully. I have to lead an ascetic life at Dandakaranyam for 14 years. Bharatha is to be crowned the king. ( the word Hi in Sanskrit implies that the 14 year exile will swiftly pass by)”. This conversation shows that Rama has taken things very lightly. He says further “ Seetha. Take care of Bharatha and Shatrugna as your brothers or as your sons. They are more than my life. True love never recedes. “ Sri Rama says these words even when Kaikeyi sends him to exile. This shows his true love for Bharatha.
