Sri Gurubhyo Namaha
Even as I was walking to the rostrum in my mind the scene of Lord Krishna dancing on Kalinga in river Yamuna was running. Such was the beautiful way Smt.Vishakaji visibly portrayed this scene to us with the help of her Sangeetha Guru’s composition and her own wonderful musical ability.
I am very happy to see the hall filled with people. I even see some people standing at the end of the hall. It is an indication of the pull of Bhagavan Krishna and the music of Smt.Vishakaji.
In our culture whenever music meets devotion the result is divinity. . Today for giving such a divine event let us thank Smt.Vishakaji.
Smt.Vishakaji not only brought these two dimensions viz., Music and Devotion, but she also brought a third dimension into play. That was the Sense of Humour. Whether it was the Thambaalam or young Krishna or indhaaththu Mama or whichever one, I am sure all of us enjoyed the humour she brought in.
She started off by expressing why it is Krishna Leela and not Krishna Katha, Krishna Charithra, biography or autobiography ….. She emotionally brought out the fact that inspite of the most challenging circumstances He had faced Krishna took His life as a Play. He was born in the middle of the night in a prison to parents who were in handcuffs. From then on he had faced so many challenges in his life. Still He took His life as a Play. Hence it is Krishna Leela. Smt. Vishakaji brought out this so beautifully.
Starting from that point there was a smooth river of Bhagavatham running through the two hours of Sangeetha Upanyasam. Upanyasam requires coherent thought and fluency of delivery. Sangeetham brings into play its own musical factors. She has demonstrated ability in both the domains so commendably, which we could feel over the past two hours. And what more she was able to seamlessly move from Upanyasam to Sangeetham and back to Upanyasam at will, with complete ease. I was sitting there in the audience enjoying it as if my own daughter was performing!
As the event was progressing a mental picture of this upanyasam was forming in my mind as if it was a wonderful big tree. This tree had dharma as its root. The trunk and branches
were nothing but Srimad Bhagavatham. Sangeetham represented the beautiful flowers that we enjoyed in this tree. Finally what is the fruit? Her Bhavam was the fruit. Yad bhavam tad bhavathi. Her “Bhavam” became our “Anubhavam”. For that let us give her a big applause.
This kind of an event would not be so pleasant and enjoyable but for the outstanding accompanying instrumentalists. The Artiste on violin and the Artiste on mridangam added colour to the whole event.
SIFAS should be thanked for providing such a beautiful hall with excellent facilities and for hosting this event.
Sri Krishna Premi Swamigal Sathsangam of Singapore need to be thanked on all your behalf for arranging this sangeetha upanyasam.
And the audience for the wonderful support extended

Hari anna it would be great if you can please please upload the Krishna leela event which happened in Singapore by Smt Vishaka hari on youtube. I am a great fan and, a follower of Vishaka Hariji and, simply like the way of her presentation it takes me to some other world and, I feel the vibrations and, like the humor with which she narrates the story. Radhe Krishna Ram Ram !!!
Hari anna it is paining to know that u travel abroad against shastric instructions.
@sowmya
You have no right to question à swamiji like hariji. You and I are not even equal to The dust on his feet. Anna may travel for many reasons like for loka shemam and spreading our dharma. Out culture out Namasankeertanam culture throught The globe. It is actually a sacrifice they are doing and protecting many Indians WHO have settled abroad. You might know how bad our society has become abroad people now à says have forgotten our culture and tradition and are following The western culture. Is this The Way our ancestors lived by renouncing our culture. Anna is doing à great sacrifice in restoration of our dharma and our shasthras. It is a gravé sin u have commited by insulting à mahaan like hariji. I request you to apologise to him for your deeds. You do not have The right or The status to advice hari Anna on such matters. People like wé are just normal Human beings leasing our loves in The footsteps of all thèse mahaans. Please do not say such thing about à mahaan whose only purpose in their life is welfare and loka shemam of others unlike us.
@Soumya
I good what i said has gone in onto your thought process. Remember one thing nothing in this world is a gravé sin than doing à Guru droham or insulting à mahaan WHO are doing their dharma. I hope this makes sensé to you. Radhe Krishna Ram Ram.
Dear sriram. I have not insulted hari anna. Tasmaat shaastram pramaanam te kaaryaakaarya vyavasthitav.......shrutismritir mamivagnya yastaamullanghya vartate. Aagnya chedi mama drohi madbakthopi na vaishnavaha. These r quoted by anna only. Yadyadaacharati sheshtaha tat tadevetaro janaha. Sa yat pramaanam kurute lokastatanuvartate. U have not understood my spirit.
Shri hari anna. Krishna premi swami few years back conducted bramha sabha in which he in the presence of all vidvans concluded that going to foreign countries is against our dharma shastras. Then y u travel abroad? Using technology u can reach persons abroad without ur physical presence abroad. Please clarify ur stand.
Hello Soumya,
You have not read my comment properly and, That is the difference bewteen people like us and, a Mahaan. To illustrate more to you in simple terms here you go the thing which has been said by our Mahaperiyava to a devotee.
By the blessings of Maha Periyaval I have been able to do brain operations in India continuously in the government general Hospital in Madras from 1964 to 1992 and after I retired from government service, I have been in private hospitals for more than a decade.
What is perhaps equally important is that I have been able to involve throughout these forty years in training several dozens of young doctors in neurosurgery in the General Hospital, Chennai from 1964 to 1992 and in Apollo Hospital, Chennai recognized for DNB qualification in neurosurgery from 1992 onwards.
In those days when a Brahmin boy went abroad and returned he was supposed to go to Rameswaram and have a bath in the ocean for purification. Somehow although we are an orthodox family, I could not do this. Soon after my return I had to undergo surgery for hernia. Then I got married. Later I became very busy in hospital work and I could never get the time to plan a trip to Rameswaram.
Some time in 1975 I went to Kancheepuram with my younger sister and niece to have darsanam of Maha Periyaval. By that time I had already been abroad several times. An elderly Brahmin gentleman who had just come from Nigeria was present too to have darshan. There was a crowd of about sixty or seventy persons and Maha Periyaval talked for about an hour on my problem of going to Rameswaram.
I am giving below the gist of the conversation His Holiness had with me.
His Holiness, while addressing the crowd of devotees: “This elderly gentleman had come from Nigeria to ask me if he should do Prayaschittam for going abroad”. Turning to me he smiled “Probably, Kalyanaraman also had come because he has a selfish interest in this as to whether he should also go to Rameswaram”.
His Holiness: “How many versions of Ramayanam are there in India?”
SKR: “Probably about a hundred”.
His Holiness: “There are about 300 languages and dialects in this country and probably an equal number of versions of Ramayanam. How did Rama and Sita return from Lanka to Ayodhya?”
SKR: “By Pushpakavimanam”.
His Holiness: “That is right. It is very interesting that neither in Valmiki Ramayanam or in any of the other 300 versions of Ramayanam there is any mention that Rama and others did prayaschittam after returning from Lanka. You may say that they traveled by air and prayaschittam is required only if you travel by sea.
Then He mentioned the name of a Frenchman and asked if I had heard about him. I replied in negative.
His Holiness: “This man was a historian. He lived in India at the time of early Chola kings. At that time one of the daughters of the reigning King could not get suitable bridegroom in India. In those days Hindu Kings were ruling over countries now known as Cambodia, Thailand, and Indonesia etc.” Have you been to Bangkok?
SKR: Yes.
HH: “Have you been to the famous Buddha temple there, which contains many pictures depicting the story of Ramayana in the prakarams of the temple?”
SKR: Yes.
HH: “So the Chola king in south India chose a prince in Cambodia as his son-in-law. The prince came to India and married the princess. The royal couple accompanied by a large retinue of purohits, maids in waiting and servants returned by ship to the bridegroom’s kingdom. After staying a few days there the purohits returned by ship to India. This French historian has given a very detailed day by day account of this marriage in his book. He has not mentioned that the purohits did Prayaschittam either on reaching Cambodia or on returning to India.
Then His Holiness asked me: “How long does it take to go to America nowadays?
SKR: It would take about eighteen hours and if there is a break of journey in London about twenty four hours.
Then His Holiness enlightened us:
That is the real point. In the Sastras it has been specifically stated that if one did not do nityakarmanushtanam (daily religious rituals like sandhya vandanam, samitadanam, agnihotram) for three days continuously one had to do prayaschittam. In those days practically everyone did their daily religious duties. The only time they could not do so was when they traveled by sea as pure fresh water was not available for bath. That is why if they traveled by sea (for more than three days), they had to do prayaschittam. Probably the purohits reached Cambodia in two days and Rama reached Ayodhya in a few hours. Therefore, there was no need for prayaschittam.
If you apply that rule today, then some people in the present audience will need to do prayaschittam several times a year for omitting to do sandhya vandanam for three days in succession! One need not go abroad to qualify oneself for doing prayaschittam!
This is again a remarkable example of how His Holiness interprets the scriptures and gives simple anecdotes step by step to illustrate the point discussed, to a lay audience. Needless to say I was very much relieved that I had not “sinned” by not going to Rameswaram! The occasion also reinforced my resolve never to omit Sandhya Vandanam or reciting the Gayathri manthram even for a single day.
His Holiness continued:
Some people say that you should do prayaschittam only if you go to another island. Is Africa an island?
SKR: Yes.
His Holiness: No, Africa and Asia form single large mass of land. Only about a hundred years ago when the Suez Canal was dug by the Englishman, it technically became an island.
In fact Australia, Asia, Africa and Europe were all one large land mass and in the millions of years that have gone by, the land mass drifted away from one another with the oceans coming in between them and formed individual continents.
Here again was another example of the vast knowledge of history, geography and geology that His Holiness had mastered.
He concluded by saying that neither the gentleman from Nigeria nor Dr. Kalyanaraman need to do prayaschittam because they have traveled for less than three days to reach India but everyone certainly had to do it if they omitted Sandhya Vandanam for three days or more!

Sri Kanchi Maha Periva Thiruvadigal Saranam
A GREAT INTERPRETATION AND CLARIFICATION BASED ON OUR SHATRAS- THIS IS THE GREATNESS OF OUR MAHA PERIVA.
Sri Kanchi Maha Periva Thiruvadigal Saranam
What u say is against krishna premi swami's conclusion in bramha sabha. All vidvans concluded that foreign travel by any mode of transport is not acceptable. Let hari anna clarify.
@Soumya
Even if Krishna premi Anna had said that travel outside of India is not valid. Those who are doing it for Dharmic reasons and are going for uploading the dharma it is valid. It is not valid for common people normal human beings like us. As I said you are not a Mahaan like hari anna or Krishna premi anna whose main purpose of their avataram is to uphold dharma all over the globe. As I said earlier You and I are not even equal to the dust on the feet of Krishna premi anna. So stop commenting on this and kindly delete your comments. You have already comitted a grave sin by insulting a great mahatma like hari anna. U have no right to question a mahaan whose only aim in life is Loka shemam unlike us.
Dear sriram. U tone like a fanatic. Dharma pracharam should be subject to shastra maryada. I dont need any clarification from u. Let hari anna answer my question and clarify his stand.
Dear Soumya,
I am sorry if my tone had hurted you. I was dissapointed that you were questioning a mahaan in this case which we are not supposed too. Hence the little worried that you asked such a thing to him.
Dear sriram. My aim is not to criticise. I rever krishna premi swami a lot. Not even a day passes for me without hearing swami's upanyasam. Hari anna being his son should stick to shastra maryada. We expect him to be a shastra vasya. He can reach people abroad through technology without physical presence. I love him more than u. I feel u r rude in ur message which is not expected from a bhagavata. Hari anna being an aadarsha purusha is answerable to vidika society for his actions. Let him make his position clear. In ur message u write stories which r not authority on the subject. He should explain with the help of smriti vachanam which to my understanding is against videsha gamanam.
If u have hari anna's phone no or email id give to me. Thanks.
@Soumya
I saw an Id mentioned for Bhagvatham quiz. I suppose it is hari anna's id. annahariji@gmail.com . Let me please know what his reply is
