Sa Bhavathya Na karthavyaha Manasaapi Vigarhithaha
Just like a devotee doing athmasamarpanam towards the Lord so does a pathivratha to her husband. Desire is born out of selfishness. Sacrifice is the foundation of love. A chaste lady sacrifices everything out of her love towards her husband. For example Daksha hated Siva. He performed a sacrifice out of hatred towards Siva. Realising this Daakshayani burnt her body of yogagni.. Her devotion towards Lord Siva is obviously portrayed at this juncture. Likewise kardama prajapathi married Devahuthi. He atonce began his penance. He did not even look at Devahuthi. Still Devahuthi ser ved him. She cleansed the place, decorated it with rangoli and protected his body from heat and cold. A chaste woman serves her husband even if he is characterless, or sick or penniless.SriRama tells Kousalya about sthree dharma. He goes to Vana. She cries out of the impending separation. She tells Rama “ Take me to that forest where you go. I cannot live without you. I will not disturb you in the forest.” Sri Rama atonce said “ A chaste woman prefers her husband to her son. It is not right on her part to go along with her son leaving her husband. The King will lament on my departure and his grief is inconceivable. It is at this time that you be beside him and console him. It is not right to leave him and come along with me.”
