EVENTS OF THE MONTH DECEMBER 2008

I CHENNAI SAPTHAM

Audience

Dolothsavam

Srimad Bhagavatha sapthaham was conducted at Kuppiah Kalyana mandapam,Kuppiah chetty street, Mambalam from Dec 21st to 27th. The very first day Sri Hari Anna remembered Natesha Prabhu. He used to appreciate each and every sloka. If Natesa Prabhu attended the parayanam Sri Anna himself used to do the parayanam. He used to ask him to read again and again each sloka. Bhagavath gunas never go stale. Shounakadi rishis heard bhagavath gunas from Suthar for almost 1000 years. During the second day pravachanam he was reminded of Mahaprabhu. “ For the laymen bhakthi grows only out of satsangh. But for avathara purushas like Mahaprabhu bhakthi is always inherent. Their devotion does not falter even in the midst of dushtasangha. Prahlada is a witness. Third day Sri Hari Anna was reminded of Gnaneswarar. He made even a buffalo chant the Vedas. That buffalo was a yogabrashta. Only Gnaneswarar knew that. Bharatha yogi took 3 births. Yet his glory does not fade. A diamond is still a diamond even in the midst of dust and rubbish” he said. The fourth day Kabir das was the highlight point.Rama nama is the only mantra without any difference as to places, caste, creed. Hence Ramanandar gave him this mantra.Kabir due his unflinching devotion saw Sri rama with his own eyes. The Lord is a paradhina to devotion. On Dec 25th there was unchavruthi, Radhakalyanam and Divyanamam. On Dec 26th and 27th Sri Rangaji also gave the discourses. It was enjoyed by one and all. R.P Iyer conducted the sapthaham with great sincerity.

From Dec 25th to Jan 1st parayana sapthaham of Srimad Bhagavatham at Vani Vidyalaya, Mulund, Mumbai was celebrated with great festivity. Around 800 devotees participated. Parayanam and pravachanam alternated from morning 6.30 to evening 7.00p.m.Nobody was awre of either day or date. Young and the old equally participated with great interest.Even as early as 6.00 in the morning there were around 50 devotees. Children too served in the sapthaham. Their responsibility was to receive the footwear of the devotees and give it back to them in the evening. Thus they managed 700 devotees’ footwear late till 7.00 in the night. Hari anna appreciated their interest and service. It was great to watch the melodious parayanam, enchanting pravachanam, prasadam distribution for Krishna Avatharam, Rukmini Kalyanam etc. The Mulund bhajan samaj had organized the event beautifully.
