SLOKA FOR THE MONTH- JAN 2014

"Tham Drushtva Shatruhantharam Maharsheenam Sukhavaham
Babhuva Hrushta Vaidehi Bartharam Parishaswaje"

To protect the sadhus is a very important mission of the avatharas. Karadhooshanas were 14000 in number. They lived at Janasthana. They used to kill and eat  the sages who did penance there. The sages instead did not curse them but patiently waited for Rama to come. They surrendered as soon as Rama came there. Rama in return pledged to kill them. He built an ashram at Panchavati for that purpose. He insulted Surpanakha for that purpose.

Kara Dhooshanas 14000 of them came for war with Rama in great agitation. Sri Rama fought them all. They were 14000 and Rama was single. They were Rakshasa and Rama was a human. They fought unjustly and Rama was just the opposite. He always followed Dharma. Even the Devas feared as to how this war would go on. But Rama was fearless. He killed them all single handedly. He won the war. He shone as VijayaRaghava. All the sages were overwhelmed and surrounded him. They showered flowers on him. If even the Devas wEre worried about the battle ho worried would Sita have felt. When Rama returned victorious she was overjoyed. She could not control herself. She came running she hugged Rama to her bosom in the midst of the sages. She was overjoyed looking at Him. The sages were overjoyed looking at them both.
