SLOKA FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2014

"Dhanathyagaha Gruhathyagaha Dehathyagopi va punaha
Vayasyaarthe Pravarthanthe Sneham Drushtva Tathavidam"

Rama and Sugreeva became friends with fire as the witness. Sugreeva spoke to Rama about sakhyadharama. He said  A friend would give up his wealth, even his house, why even his wealth for the sake of another friend. He would give up anything for the sake of friendship.
Sugreeva had infinite love for Rama. He knew that Rama was capable of killing RVali. Yet he insisted that Rama proved his strength and valour. He did so not because of his suspicion but because of his love for Rama. He feared that Rama should not be troubled in anyway by Vali. This only shows his love for Rama. When Sugreeva surrenders all the vanaras, his entire army at the feet of Rama, this point is proved.
SriRama is seated onn the peak of Suvela mountain along with the battalion of monkeys. Ravana was strolling on the terrace of his palace. Sugreeva’s blood boiled when he saw Ravana. He went single handedly for the fight against Ravana. He fought a brave battle single handedly and came back with Ravana’s crown. Rama placed the crown on Vibheeshana’s head.
Lakshmana fell unconscious when Indrajith discharged the naagapasa on him.  Rama cried. Sugreeva consoled everybody. He immediately shouted “ Take Rama and Lakshmana to Kishkindha and treat them with proper medication. I will win this war and come back with Seetha.

Thus he proved that  he would sacrifice his wealth, house and even his life for the sake of his friend Rama.
