Vishnu thus sanctifies this place in 12 forms.
At the beginning of srishti 11 Rudras came from the forehead of Brahma. They were very powerful but filled with thamoguna. Manyu, Manu, Mahaneechan, Mahadevan, Shivan, Rudathdvajan, Ugrarethas, Bhavan, Kaalan,  Vaamadevan and Druthavrathan were the 11 Rudras. They used to hit all beings from all sides.  Brahma called them all and spoke to them “ You are all called Shankara. You have been created for the welfare of all beings. May you all protect the cows May you all surrender at the feet of Vishnu and get rid of your tamas.
Shiva came to Chozhadesha and specifically to Thiruvenkaadu. He prayed to NaraNarayana there. Vishnu gave darshan to the 11 Ruidras. NaraNarayana made the 4 Vedas his 4 horses, made Omkara his chariot and came there. Hence this kshetra is called ThenBadari. As the 11 Rudras worshipped Vishnu the latter took  11forms separately. Hence it became Dwadashaksehtram. The foremost one is ThiruNangur.

Those who take bath in this Rudrateertham will be relieved of mental sickness. Those who cannot see North Badarikashrama can see the Lord here.
